Options in the Fox Cities for Accessible Play
Playtime is a highly valued part of any kid's day. It allows them to use their imaginations, socialize, explore, develop interests, and be active. Finding a place where your child can participate, feel comfortable and safe is key. Listed below are a few options in the Fox Cities for accessible play.
Please note that while these options do not represent all of the accessible play spaces for kids in the Fox Cities, they certainly tend to bring a smile to the faces of children who visit. For additional information on playgrounds in the Fox Cities and other kid friendly activities click here.
Located on College Ave in downtown Appleton, The Building for Kids offers low sensory experiences every Sunday from 9 AM to 12 PM. Every third Sunday of the month, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM The Building for Kids also hosts a Sensory Superstars program that partners with the Autism Society of the Fox Valley to host guest speakers and provide resources and sensory-friendly activities. Additionally, there are self regulation tools and calm down kits available in The Building for Kids Welcome Center should the need arise during your visit.
Opened in March of 2023, this new space is located in Neenah and offers a variety of sensory friendly options. They have a sensory gym, multi-sensory environments and sensory friendly activities.
Please note there are multiple playgrounds at this park. The Universal Playground in Memorial Park which was last updated in August 2020 is ADA accessible. From a soft rubber ground to double swings this playground is bound to be a lot of fun.
Electa Quinney Elementary School Playground
Families can use the playground at Electa Quinney outside of school hours. The playground is fenced in and has accessible equipment to help ensure children can play safely.
Located in the Upper Park area, High Cliff State Park offers an ADA accessible playground. This playground has soft flooring, pavement, wheel chair access, accessible swings and accessible park benches.
