Partners in Tourism: Groups
Group events and business travel are critical drivers of visitor spending in the Fox Cities. These 3 groups were key contributors in 2023
Room tax dollars are the unsung hero in helping fund many amenities, attractions, and experiences throughout the Fox Cities.
The Fox Cities CVB's Tourism Development Grant Program works to fund local projects that help generate overnight hotel stays or enhance the visitor experience in the area. This year, we are highlighting a few of the brand new community assets and attractions that were supported in part by our grants.
The Fox Cities are surrounded by beautiful waterways. As part of our Destination Master Plan, the CVB set a goal of creating more opportunities for our visiting population to easily engage with the water - resulting in the creation of our kayak rental station grant.
The kayak rental station grant provided partial funding for local municipalities to purchase and install kayak rental stations. The rental stations encourage visitors and residents to splash into the summer without the high expense of purchasing a kayak or the hassles of transportation and finding storage.
In addition to outdoor recreation, the Tourism Development Grant program recently helped fund several new museum exhibits: Food to Grow by the Building For Kids Children's Museum and You Are Here by the History Museum at the Castle.
Food to Grow offers both children and adults an up-close look at the whole food system while allowing for the exploration of food choice, food equity, and cultural significance of food.
You Are Here is a new permanent exhibition that tells the rich history of the Fox Valley in Northeast Wisconsin. The interactive exhibit demonstrates the importance of the Fox River to the local environment and industries. It also features the diverse peoples that have lived in the area and showcases the unique culture that has developed in the Fox Valley. You Are Here is the only comprehensive history exhibit of the region.
Since its inception, the CVB has reinvested nearly $12 million back into the community via the grant programs. With many exciting projects on the horizon, these grants are a true testament to the power of visitor spending in creating incredible communities.
