Make date night one to remember in the Fox Cities.
Stuck in the loop of a predictable date night routine? Always ending up at the same old same old for dinner and drinks? Visiting for a couples’ getaway but not sure where to go?
Have no fear, the Fox Cities CVB is here! Below are a few ideas to get you planning for a fun and fresh adventure. Whether you’ve got a day, night, or even a weekend, all these ideas can be mixed and matched to create lasting memories with your better half.
Start the evening with happy hour at Cleo's, where the walls and ceiling are plastered in holiday decorations that would make the Grinch's heart grow three sizes. If the holiday decor doesn't warm your heart, Cleo's famous Dirty Snowball definitely will. A block west and across the street, enjoy dinner for two at RYE Restaurant. Their outstanding dishes are created with fresh, locally sourced ingredients from the Fox Cities region. As tempting as RYE's dessert menu may be, you'll want to save room for a customized cookie sandwich, sundae or shake at Legendairy Cookies ‘N Creamery. If the night is still young, walk College Avenue and you’ll find plenty of bars and lounges for drinks and entertainment.
For the duo that never sits still, the perfect date starts at High Cliff State Park. Sitting along the shores of Lake Winnebago, High Cliff is home to six different trails and stunning, selfie-worthy views of the water. There’s even a campground to make a weekend out of your visit. If you’re looking to fuel the competitive spirit, spend the afternoon at Badger Sports Park for a round of mini golf. For something more adventurous, book a time at Appleton Axe to learn and master the art of axe throwing. See who has the better aim in games like Tic Tac Toe or Twenty One. To wind down, hop on over to Fox Cities Stadium for a Wisconsin Timber Rattler game. Don’t worry, you won’t be sitting for long as you walk the 360 concourse and take a trip down the slide.
Downtown Neenah is the place to be for a romantic sunset date night. Start with locally crafted brews at Lions Tail Brewing Co or Barrel 41. Both have outdoor seating areas for warm and beautiful nights. For something unique, stop at Copperstill Bourbon Bar to try the whiskey of the week. Grab a gourmet dinner for two at Cannova’s or Town Council. Cannova’s specializes in signature Italian fare and fresh pizza while Town Council is known for a rotating menu of locally sourced, made from scratch New American cuisine. After dinner, take a stroll through Shattuck Park and down to the waterfront for a breathtaking view of the sun setting on Lake Winnebago. To end the night, kick back and relax with a light cheese plate and large assortment of wine options from Santé Wine Bar & Bistro.
Embrace your creative side with a wide variety of hands-on art activities. Book seats for two at Pinot’s Palette and sip a glass of wine or beer while you create a new canvas masterpiece. At Board and Brush, you and your significant other can participate in a custom wood project workshop to create everything from home décor to cornhole boards. The Fire is a pottery, mosaic, and glass studio that offers the option to walk in whenever they’re open to create a work of art. For a few options uniquely Fox Cities, check out Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass and Eclectic Candle Company. Bergstrom-Mahler offers monthly classes where participants can make glass art objects including key chains, small dishes, and yard art. At Eclectic Candle Company, sign up for Candles & Brunch or Candles & Cocktails for the opportunity to make your own soy candle with a side of drinks and snacks.
