Bring the whole crew for a family-fun weekend in the Fox Cities!
If you’re in the market for a certified kid-friendly destination, let us introduce you to the Fox Cities, a region jam-packed with attractions and experiences perfect for a family getaway. With endless ways to play and a community calendar full of year-round events, you’ll find yourself planning a return trip to the Fox Cities before it’s time to leave.
Let your child’s sense of wonder roam free at kid-friendly museums across the Fox Cities. The Building for Kids is a two-story play-based children’s museum with interactive exhibits meant to inspire and educate. Kids can work in the doll hospital, operate a crane, or slide down the arteries of a 10-foot human heart.
Learn about the history of the Fox Cities and the world of STEM at Atlas Science Center. Located in a historic paper mill, kids can explore exhibits on genomes, watch performances on the science stage, and make their own paper in the Paper Making Lab.
Imagine a museum where you can create an earthquake, walk through a mine tunnel, touch a dinosaur bone, and make it rain. Good news – all this and more exists on your next trip to Weis Earth Science Museum, the official mineralogical museum of Wisconsin.
Road tripping to the Fox Cities? After you arrive, stretch the legs and release some energy at our various adventure parks for all ages. The 12 and under crowd will have a blast at Monkey Joe’s and Luv 2 Play as they jump on inflatables and climb the playsets. Xtreme Air is Wisconsin’s largest indoor trampoline park at 45,000 square feet and also includes an indoor rock-climbing park for additional fun. Urban Air is an epic adventure with bumper cars, a ropes course, a warrior course and more while Altitude is another great option for trampolines and jump attractions.
When the weather is right for a day outdoors, head on over to Mulberry Lane Farm for a full farm life experience. You’ll have the chance to milk a cow, enjoy a hayride, visit the petting zoo, and feed the goats. Continue the outdoor adventure at Heckrodt Wetland Reserve. Explore 91 acres of wetland, marsh, prairie, and forest while also making a trip to the one-of-a-kind Wild Space play area.
For an ultra rad throwback to the 80s, stop by The Plaza at Gateway Park for an afternoon of rollerblading on the seasonal ice rink turned roller rink. Skates are available to rent and you can grab a smoothie, coffee flight, or bite to eat at the adjoining Globe Coffee.
Push back bedtime to keep the good times going with a few different family-friendly nighttime activities. Kids will be mesmerized by the high-speed action at Wisconsin International Raceway, Wisconsin’s premier stock car and drag racing venue since 1964. Children ages 12 and under attend most events free.
Another nostalgic throwback awaits at the Field of Scenes drive-in theater. Opening for their 20th season, movies are shown at dusk Thursdays through Saturdays with rotating options throughout the summer. A movie for the younger crowd is shown first each night with a more mature film to follow.
Finally, nothing beats the smell of popcorn, the crack of a bat, and warm breezy nights at the ballpark. The Fox Cities are home to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, a minor league affiliate team of the Milwaukee Brewers. Daily specials include Bang for Your Buck Tuesdays and Supper Club Fridays while theme nights span anything from princess to TV sitcom night. End the night with a bang on Fridays and Saturdays with the ever-popular post-game fireworks.
