Appleton has been ranked the 38th best place to live in the United States by Livability.com.

To determine the "2020 Top 100 Best Places to Live" rankings, Livability compared more than 1,000 small- to mid-sized cities across the country on safety, affordability, economic stability, outdoor recreation, accessibility, community engagement, job numbers, broadband access, economic growth, and other factors.
